Add a CommentIf you liked Stieg Larsson (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, etal.), Jo Nesbø is the next mystery/thriller author you should try. Set in the cold climes of Norway, Nesbø's plots are complex, full of switchback turns, and contain much local color. In The Snowman, Nesbø's most recent book, maverick police detective Harry Hole, a not-so-successfully recovering alcoholic pining for the woman he recently broke up with, is tracking down a possible serial killer with a terrifyingly gruesome modus operandi. Women--all wives and mothers--go missing without a trace. In every instance a huge, menacing snowman is found near the woman's home. Harry thinks that there is something personal going on between him and the killer, dubbed the Snowman. He has that eerie feeling that the killer knows what his next tactic is, knows just the right teaser of a clue to leave. It's a game, Harry thinks, and one that starts to bring out all the obsessive behavior that gets Harry in trouble with his boss and colleagues all the time. Tautly written, not for the faint-at-heart, Nesbø's style will keep you reading way past your bedtime. -Madame Librarian
This was g great book. Lots of twists and turns and really was not sure who the murder was until the end of the book.
