Good, not great. Too melodramatic and very predictable, however, the writing was good.
loneliness, insecurity, tragedy and rebuilding of fragile lives in the aftermath where 'time and distance doesn't heal you'. Well crafted.
Most books are just stories. NIGHT ROAD changed that for me, i lived thru a loss in our family - our son passed away just before grad - so i know exactly what Jude and her family were going thru. This book reminded me of our tragic time.
I got chills more than once reading this book. The writing is evocative, honest, gut-wrenching, and hauntingly beautiful. One of the best books I have ever read, this is a stellar achievement about loss and the difficulties in finding your way back.
This book exceeded all of my expectations. An emotionally draining read about motherhood, forgiveness, and love. Full of realistically flawed characters. Have a Kleenex box handy!
This was a really good book! If I were to find any fault with it, it would be with whomever wrote the summary on the back. I had a totally different idea of what the book would be like based on that. I viewed Lexie as this conniving manipulator or something, and she was the polar opposite. My views of Jude were totally different too. I would recommend this to anyone, it is a great book! I wish I would've read it sooner.
Awesome book. Couldn't put it down. Stayed up until 2:30 in the morning to finish it. :)
"An absence of friends makes the heartache of "Night Road" all the more wrenching when a tragedy shatters the world of a mother who has built her life around her teenage twins. This engrossing family drama packs the same sort of emotional wallop as Anna Quindlen's "Every Last Thing." If you're not familiar with Hannah's novels, but you like authors such as Laura Moriarty and Jodi Picoult, it's time to give this author a closer look." Linda Johns Seattle Times
I really like Kristin Hannah's books. She always has really emotional themes that are thought provoking. Night Road is one that is poignant for anybody who is a parent. Would you forgive? As a young person, it really makes a difference what choices you make. Really enjoyed this one - tissues were at hand a lot.
