"Dr. Ryan Stone ... is a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalski. ... On a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalski completely alone, tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the darkness. I understand why it won for best visual effects and cinematography because the images of space were beautiful, but it was really an empty movie. She was trapped in space, but that was it. Nothing happened. It was a movie that had no flavor or excitement.

By far one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Glad I did not waste my money on it.

Was pleased when Gravity came to me - saw all the hoo haw and the awards - for what?! Sandra Bullock floating around in her underwear lost in space. Nice that she is in such good shape and can turn a dial or fiddle with a handle. Photography was great - that's about it. Glad I didn't pay $10 to see this whatever it is supposed to be.

I rented this DVD and forgot that I had also reserved it, so I got it from SPL and saw it yesterday. What a difference a few months make. The first view I would rate it a 7 but now I give it a 2. While it has 2 good name actors, they did poorly as did this DVD. And the ending was very disappointing. She finally makes it to a planet (Earth?), but just starts walking away and the DVD ends. Would have been nice to know if anyone acknowledged her drive to get back to earth after the many space crafts she used are torn apart by flying space debrie? This IMHO is a DVD trying to make it good by using scenes of stuff failing over and over, but I believe it fails in its efforts.

i hate this move.
first she is not hot.
second the movie was so far from reality it made me mad.
maybe they should ask people about space and nasa before trying to make a movie.
she would not have lived lane and simple.
its not like the movie is based on a fictional situation like aliens predators.
its is made to be based on fact, but the only fact in this movie was buttons have lights hat coincide with the pushing of the button.

Great candy for the eyes as the views of earth are well presented as is the diverse architecture of the space stations. The imagination demonstrated in the story compliment average human perceptions rather than reality. Better on the big screen at $11.00 for my ticket, this free DVD compliments of KCLS made the time spent watching the small screen where one can pause and back up for more details most enjoyable. Bullock wears the hero mantle with earthy style. I encourage more movies featuring women heroes. This is especially good mojo for our daughters and granddaughters.

Great idea for a movie, but they didn't even come close to pulling it off. Wonderful special effects, but bad acting, corny writing, and a horrible ending make Gravity an embarassingly bad fiasco.

Wish I saw this movie in theaters because on DVD it was extremely boring. How did James Cameron claim this film to be the "best space film I've ever seen??" Story is repetitive and entire film has Sandra Bullock moving through the motions.

I didn't like Alfonso Cuaron's other films much (other than Children of Men), especially his take on Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. He hasn't won me over here. The fact that this film was nominated for and won so many accolades and Oscars shows that the types of films movie elites prefer is in complete contrast to the mainstream audience who want to see fun, entertaining films.

Slow going at the beginning - they could have dropped about 5? minutes of Clooney being a clown. Then things move into overdrive. Great disaster movie! Had my adrenalin running. Beautifully filmed. Sandra Bullock carried the movie! Definitely more a chick flick, because she mostly used her brain, not her brawn, although that was in evidence as well.

At 600KM above planet Earth the temperature fluctuates between +258 and -148 degrees Fahrenheit. There is nothing to carry sound. No air pressure. No oxygen. Life in space is impossible.
